I can understand the housecleaning. I've gone back through my journal from time to time and cringed as well. However, I decided to take a different tact and leave it for quite a few reasons. But I do understand your rationale. We each must decide what is best for us.

I'm keeping nicely busy. I didn't delete the old entries, just set the to private. It was the mental equivalent of boxing my previous neuroses up and putting them away in the closet. I'm glad I did it - I feel freer to be me NOW than me as I was.

Thank you so much for the offer! I probably will not be doing a major trip after this season - but I may be after next season (if there is a next season.) In any case, I do hope to get back to Japan at some point. I lived in Tokyo for a few years as a kid - and I believe my cousin was actually born on that very Navy base. :) If I do make it back, I will definitely keep your offer in mind. Thanks!
